On Friday 28 April at 7 p.m., performer, dancer and painter Simona Atzori (Milan, 1974), the protagonist of the 2006 opening of the Paralympics in Turin, will perform together with the Verona-based AbilityArt association.

Simona Atzori was born without arms, but has always used her legs and feet as arms and hands: she understood from an early age that often ‘limits are not real’. She attended the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature, and continued her studies at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. She was an ambassador for Dance on the occasion of the Great Jubilee of 2000, and in the same year she received the Michelangelo Award in Rome. In 2009 Simona danced during two stages of the ‘Roberto Bolle and friends’ show; in 2012 she opened the fourth evening of the Sanremo festival; in 2017 she danced at the Festival dei due mondi in Spoleto. Since 2008 her paintings can be admired in permanent exhibitions in London and Canada and she participates in group and solo exhibitions all over the world. In 2010 the SimonArte Dance company was founded, which has to its credit three productions in collaboration with dancers from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan “Me”, “What do you need to be happy?” and “A purple room”.
