The title of the exhibition, curated by Treti Galaxie, is a tribute to the poet Andrea Zanzotto’s Sonnet of Fili e Ife e Grifi, taken from his collection Il galateo in bosco, published in 1978.
In this work, the author questions the possibility of adapting classicism to contemporaneity through a complex construction of cross-references that propose a parallel between the recovery of archaic language and the study of nature.
Anastasiya Parvanova interprets Zanzotto’s verse as a lens through which to read the relationships between her works: the threads are those of interwoven cotton and linen, which, woven and interwoven, form the basis of her painting, while the hyphae, as in the mycelium of mushrooms, create the relationships between work and work, and between works and the environment in which they are located. While the griffins refer to images of recurrent mythological figures, from Ancient Egypt to heraldry, the artist’s themes are equally recurrent, from artwork to artwork.
