Virtual Identities puts into dialogue the artistic projects of Piergiorgio Del Ben, which elect the human being as the absolute protagonist of his poetics. Del Ben thinks about human actions and faces, negating the perspectives and distinctive signs of the context in which the figures move. Homogeneous surfaces, compact and unreal colors fulfill this task with strange irony. Without individual reference points and rooted in personal history, the contemporary human being renounces his own name and look, showing himself through synthesis of lines and colors.
The absence of symbolic boundaries, characteristic of a globalized world, makes these characters unable to go beyond appearance.
PIERGIORGIO DEL BEN
Piergiorgio Del Ben (Pordenone, 1990) graduated in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, where he started his first artistic project, Business Story, awarded by the Bevilacqua la Masa Foundation of Venice in 2012. His research investigates the human figure in relation to contemporary society and his compositions are characterized by a strong simplification of the trait and the grounds. Following the move to Milan, the artist has continued to privilege minimal brushstrokes and an aseptic and unreal palette, to accentuate the tragedy and anonymity of the faces and protagonists of his works. The series Anonymous Project was selected in the Under25 category of the “Artelaguna” award 2013 and the “Arte Prize”, section Accademia 2015.
After graduating in Product Design at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, the artist continued his research by creating Mind Vogue, which investigates individual loss in a culture that focuses on the superficiality of appearances. Currently his artistic research is linked to the latest project LOST MEN.
